Life after landmines

lifeafterlandmines.jpg

Sharpening and selling twigs is the only form of income now available to this survivor of a landmine accident. He lost his livelihood after the accident and could no longer work on the farm. He has moved into Asmara to make a living at a small market stall in front of the cathedral.

Almost two-thirds of all the countries in the world are directly affected to some extent by the landmine problem and the issue of survivors (Landmine Monitor Report; 2006).
