Mobility and self-esteem

mobilityandselfesteem.jpg

Rehabilative equipment has given this boy more than the ability to walk. It has given him a chance to look his peers in the eye; to stand tall alongside his classmates

in school; to run, play and maybe kick a ball; to be a child and have a childhood.

The majority of people living with disabilities find their situation affects their chances of going to school, working for a living, enjoying family life and participating as equals in social life (DFID; 2000).
