One in 37 million

37 million people in the world are blind – most from cataract, like this girl. In fact, every five seconds someone in our world goes blind. A child goes blind every minute. Yet with the right education or medical help, 80% of cataract blindness can be prevented or cured.

Almost half of children who go blind will die within two years of losing their sight (CBM; 2006).
