Welcome to the August 2011 Edition of the Australian Disability and Development Consortium’s (ADDC) Newsletter. The intent of the Newsletter is to update Members on ADDC activities and is only published 2 to 3 times a year, whereas the ADDC Bulletin is information from around the world relating to disability in development and distributed at least twice a month.
This edition will provide updates on ADDC activity throughout 2011 in relation to our main objectives, as well as providing information about activities our Members have been involved in.
This issue of the ADDC Newsletter reports back on the feedback from the Members Consultations and provides you an opportunity for further comment.
There is also an update on the ADDC Executive Committee status, ADDC Strategic Plan and recent lobbying success.
International Women’s Day celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future and, in particular, the right to vote for women.
International Women’s Day honours the work of campaigners of women’s rights, celebrates women’s success and reminds us of inequities still to be redressed. The first International Women’s Day event was run in 1911. 2011 is the Global Centenary Year. Despite great achievements in the past 100 years, significant inequities persist.
