Research Symposium

Disability Research Symposium

As part of the Australian Government’s commitment to disability inclusive development the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) funded a disability research symposium - Disability in Development: shaping policy and practice.

The symposium, which was hosted by the Australian Disability and Development Consortium (ADDC) and supported by the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) University Network,  provided an important opportunity for researchers and practitioners from Australia and the region to come together to share research approaches and outcomes to better inform policy and practice in disability inclusive development.

The symposium was held in Canberra at the National Convention Centre on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August 2014.  During this week the Australian Government’s Disability Reference Group (DRG) also met in Canberra and a number of DRG members, and symposium delegates attended a function at Parliament House to meet with Australian Senators and Members of Parliament.
