The papers and case studies in this journal begin to address this lack of information and understanding of the relationship between disability and development, and in particular the inter-relationship between disability and poverty. They also highlight recent, dramatic changes in development assistance policy in the Pacific and Asia and provide first-hand experience of community, national, regional and international initiatives.

This journal is produced as a direct result of the 2008 ADDC International Conference and the Development Studies Network at ANU, supported with funding from AusAID. The culmination of all the effort to produce this journal was with the official launch which was held in Canberra at the Australian National University on 11th June 2009.
