Celebrating International Day of People with Disabilities 2023

International Day of People with Disability logo

Together, we champion disability equity: #ChampioningDisabilityEquity

International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPD) is a United Nations (UN) sanctioned day celebrated annually on 3 December. This important day aims to raise awareness and promote action around the rights of people with disabilities and their full inclusion in society.

Our main hashtag for IDPD is #ChampioningDisabilityEquity

It was chosen to reflect ADDC’s mission to journey with others in the international development sector to create a world where we are #ChampioningDisabilityEquity together.

ADDC envisages a world where people with disabilities are fully embraced, celebrated and included in all of Australia’s development initiatives.

How you can get involved

Download the IDPD 2023 toolkit

The IDPD toolkit aims to support organisations and individuals working in international development in Australia to celebrate and mark International Day of People with Disabilities, or IDPD, on 3 December 2023.

It includes suggestions of how to mark the day with your colleagues and across your organisation, such as holding a morning tea for IDPD.

The toolkit provides guidance on how to join the public conversation around disability rights and inclusion via social media, and how to involve your organisation’s supporters.
